A few years ago we learned a hard lesson about our street block. The southern end tends to flash flood in heavy rain. We learned the hard way and had to have $1500 worth of carpet repaired in our old Honda.
I arrived home yesterday during the torrential rain last evening to find no less than 4 cars in various predicaments at the end of the street. I felt bad for them but they had already gone in too deep. There wasn’t much they could do except push their car out and wait for it to dry out. Unfortunately they too had to learn the hard way.
In a panic I called Courtney, who was following me home, “DO NOT COME HOME FROM THE SOUTH!” I shouted on her voicemail. About 10 minutes later she arrived home with her car just fine.

I have done it! I have conquered the Minnesota Winter! This morning was supposed to be a record low of 14 degrees below zero. Yours truly walked to work this morning. And quite honestly, I’ve been colder. Unlike the days of middle school when I would refuse to wear a hat to the bus stop in fear of getting teased, I was quite bundled up. I even dared to put on the tights..er…”thermal underwear” that my parents bought me for walking to class in the college years. I also had to break out the flannel-lined worker pants. NONETHELESS, I still have my nose and I made it! Take that Winter! Screw you. I want the nice 40 degree winters back.
There’s a new suggested Napster download. It may be hard to find on Napster. If you can’t find it I can hook you up. For the most part response to my music suggestions has been overwhelming positive. But I highly doubt everyone will like this week’s selection. Good luck on your quest.

I hate snow. I really do. It has been snowing all week in MN and I’m sick of it. I love Minnesota but quite honestly the weather sucks.
Hmm, what’s new….My valentine’s day was entertaining to say the least. I upgraded the RAM in my computer to 192 megs. I filed my taxes….
Here’s an interesting warning: Do not buy TurboTax from Quicken. Get this, first you buy the software from Best Buy or your local computer retailer. You pay 30 bucks to ease the pain of taxes. You then must pay to file your taxes electronically, another $10. Then you are informed that you need to purchase your local state version of TurboTax to do your state taxes, add $30. PLUS another $10 to file your state taxes electronically. Yes, I hate doing taxes. Yes, they are confusing. But what makes them think I’m going to spend my tax return on tax software? I was guillible enough to buy the TurboTax software but after I started adding it all up I felt like an idiot.
Problem: I hate doing taxes and I get confused by my taxes.
Solution: Use TurboTax.com and do them online
This is a great solution to those who want an easy way to file taxes. Not everyone can use the online application for filing but I highly suggest it. For us who are not rich (yet) it’s quick and painless. After forking out $20 to file my taxes I was done and it was all over. Yeah!
