How Forgetful

The governor of New Mexico claimed to have been drafted by the MLB A’s in 1966. After a newspaper discovered that there was no record of him ever being drafted by a major league team, the govenor made this statement:

“After being notified of the situation and after researching the matter … I came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A’s”

At least his lie didn’t take us to war, I guess.

What, Me Vote?

If you’re curious, I voted for Kerry. Try getting that sort of information out of my mom.

Anyway.

As I was standing in line to vote I found myself scanning the crowd wondering why people had shown up to vote and who they were voting for. Everyone there had some sort of personal reason for coming out early to have their opinion counted.

I do have two comments about the voting process in Minnesota:

1. It’s still way too complicated. The paper ballots need to go. The sign-in process could use some oiling as well.
2. Issue 1 may be solved if elderly people didn’t run the voting locations. I was the 10th person to vote at my voting location and the election helpers were already getting crabby with confused people. It took the H-P sign-in lady no less than 5 minutes to find a gentleman’s last name.
