At work we have pressurized coffee pots, the kind that you push down on a handle and coffee is dispensed through a spout. Since they are not traditional coffee pots there isn’t a way to see into them to know exactly how much coffee is left in them. The pots also are heavier than traditional pots so even picking them up doesn’t tell you too much. Every time you push on the handle you are risking being the one having to make more coffee.
Because of this I find a lot of almost empty pots. The person right before me pushed the handle 3 times without running the pot dry. I played the game but only got two pushes in before the pot ran out.
I have seen many folks avoid an almost empty pot just so they won’t have to make the next batch. They divert their choice from coffee to a pop or water. It tends to be quite comical.
But, as most coffee drinkers know, the most annoying part is being the only one willing to brew more coffee. We have five pots at work, 3 regular and 2 decaf. I have seen days where I have drained all three pots trying to get just one single cup of coffee. grrr..

A video link popped up on Digg under the heading “Remember this old Nickelodeon bumper?” After clicking into the video it’s revealed Nick commerical is from 1990. I hardly consider 1990 “old Nickelodeon”. I went hunting for some true old Nick nostalgia. Here’s what I found:
www.ycdtotv.com A web site dedicated to You Can’t Do That on Television
The opening credits to Pinwheel
The opening credits to Today’s Special – Court actually remembered this one.
Ah….The memories….

Sometimes I just get stuck in my own head. I get so wound up about something that I just can’t get the thought out. Typically the gym works wonders for getting out the kinks in my brain. I don’t have the luxury of going there until noon so I’ve tried to drown out all the confusion by music.
I never really could figure out why I turn to loud music when confused. It hit me this morning while I searched for the appropriate song. I just want to stop thinking. I just want thoughts to get out of my head. I don’t want to think anymore.
On a completely unrelated topic, it appears “Effin” did not go over well with…everybody. So that’s off the block for middle names. The middle name for M2 is pretty easy to pick. On both sides of the family Alan (or Allen) is the common middle name for the men. So Allen (or Alan) will be M2’s middle name. I’ve tried the shout test in hopes one first name sticks out better than the other. “COLE ALAN MOTYLINSKI! GET BACK HERE” or “TAYE ALLEN! DON’T TOUCH THAT!” All seem to work out fine. We might just end up flipping a coin.

And the card from my dad:

Also, props to Drew and Michelle for the Hallmark flash card. I can’t post it since it’s on a 3rd party site but thanks for the well wishes.
Update 2
Not to be outdone, my cousin Katie sent along the following:

Details of my latest handywork, from the other side.

I had to get my suit altered tonight. I took it took the nearest Mens Wearhouse to get the waist taken in a bit. At one point the attendant asked if it was actually my suit. The suit was a bit larger than I am now. Actually, it was much bigger than me. They had to take the waist in by four inches.
About 8-9 months ago I started going to the gym with Frank over lunch. We go to the gym roughly 5 times a week. I’ve lost 15-18 pounds and I’m within 3 pounds of my goal weight. My diet has altered slightly and is no where near perfect. But I try to eat better than I was last year at this time.
People have been noticing. I’ve received random compliments from random people at work lately. If you ask me, I still have the same love-handles and the same beer belly. I feel more comfortable with myself now which makes me a more confident person. And it’s always nice to get a random compliment from unexpected places.

Don’t worry, I’m still around.
I’ve had one hell of a ride since April. Unfortunately my nerdy side has been on hiatus while I try and reorganize, adapt, and flat out change some things.
But don’t fret! I have some uber-dork things in the works. I will roll them out when the time comes.
And I swear, on my dead guinea pig’s grave, that I shall be a good blogger and keep up with my life.
I swear.

Over the last few months I’ve been in the habit of cutting my hair every Monday morning. After a week’s worth of growth I’m typically annoyed by the porcupine style. So prior to leaving for work I’ve started clipping my hair back down to it’s normal and healthy length of an 1/8-inch. Waiting for Monday may also be a sign of my severe procrastination nature as I wait until the last possible minute to shave my head.
I’ve discovered that clipping my hair in the wee hours of the morning may not be such a good thing. More than once I’ve gotten to work and realized that I’ve left a skunk’s line up the back or side of my head. I’ve also managed to knick my ear with the blades.
Now that I have learned my lesson about early morning hair cuts I will start doing it on Sundays….yes, Sundays. So if you are wondering what I’m doing on Sundays, I’m cutting my hair. Right. Yes. I am completely resolved to doing it Sunday.
But you know, I do have other things I should do prior to Monday. Wipe off the bathroom mirror, pet the dogs, fluff the couch pillows. Maybe I’m a little too busy tonight. I’ll just wait until tomorrow to do it.

Life has finally left me at a loss for words. I have no comment.

I went to the doc’s today. I have a lump on my right knee. It is a little concerning because it’s causing me some pain. Turns out that it’s nothing more then some fluid/cyst/soft tissue on my knee. It doesn’t help the fact that it hurts every once in awhile when I’m working around the house. Nonetheless they didn’t remove any appendages so I consider it a win for me.
You may wonder what I have been up to over the past two months. Well, nothing special really. I’ve had my nose to the grindstone at work which has made playing around at home not a top priority. I’ve been trying to keep the wife and dogs happy. I’ve been trying to finish as well as start some new projects around the house. Courtney and I started sanding down some old end tables that we acquired from her parents. The tables have years of paint layered on. It has taken me 3 weeks and 3 new sanders to finish the first end table. I’m having second thoughts about finishing the other end table.
So, that’s been my life for the last 2 months. Court and I have just kept on rollin’. If you were to ask me to summarize the summer in one word blurbs it would be: concerts, shows, horses, yard, cars, houses, and work.
