A few days after Riley was born the doctor confirmed that Riley was tongue-tied. I always thought being “tongue-tied” was a figure of speech, but I discovered it’s an actual affliction. It means that the little “thing” that connects Riley’s tongue to his bottom jaw is too close to the end of his tongue. He isn’t able to stick his tongue out of his mouth. The doctor assured us that he would be fine, as long as being tongue-tied didn’t affect his eating or speech later in life.
So, with every check up we’ve had the first thing I bring up is Rile’s tongue. It freaks me out to know already that he might have problems when he grows up. Riley was 5 days old when they first told us, It was like finding a dent in your new car. For the last 4 months he’s tried so hard to stick his tongue out. I was finally accepting the fact that I couldn’t do anything about it right now and it was best not to worry about it.
Then on Tuesday his tongue came flying out of his mouth without warning. I was stunned. We were laughing and playing like we usually do (He likes it when I say “Hello” and “LOL” to him) when his little tongue jetted just a bit out of his mouth. It’s no Gene Simmons, but it’s a step in a new direction for Riles. He had a look on his face of pride that I’d never seen before. I’ve never been so happy about something so little in my life. All week we’ve laughed and played, sticking our tongues out at each other.
I’ve done the HTPC thing and I built was a big headache. I learned quickly after purchasing a Tivo why it’s the only way to go. Tivo is taking a page from the smaller PVR firms and will be adding weather, traffic, and Live365 streaming next year. Thank you, Tivo. I love you too.
I would just like to say that I’m glad Ashlee Simpson was exposed for being the imposter that she is. That’s what she gets for concentrating on being famous instead of making good music.
Well, I fell for it again. First it was the Blair Witch Project and now it’s The Buried Secrets of M. Night Shyamalan. They had me hook, line, and sinker. Regardless if M. Night can see dead people, the mockumentary did have me sleeping with the lights on. I love being made to believe things you know probably shouldn’t be true, but you so desparately want them to be. Nice work, SciFi. I enjoyed the ride.
In an attempt to avoid boredem last night, Courtney and I ventured into downtown for some nightlife. Specifically, we were in search of Gameworks. Their motto: Eat. Drink. Play. Party. I was hoping it would be what I had hoped Chuck E. Cheese would be for my birthday. For the most part it was. I was surprised to see so many kids running around. Gameworks has a very adult feel to it. Right in the middle of the gamefloor is a medium-sized bar. Even so, Gameworks kicked the kids out at 9pm. Court and I had a blast. We spent most of our time and money playing Derby Racing. As you can imagine a video game about horses was right up Court’s alley. It was like gambling in Vegas without the chance of ever winning anything. It was a hoot having to train your horse, feed it the right thing, and properly whip/hold it while racing. Court did take me to town in Air Hockey. I underestimated her hand-eye coordination.
I’m not shitting you. James Brown has been appointed to “funk up” the U.S. government. Read it here. All I have to say is that it’s about time James Brown gets his props.
Yet another time waster. This time you’re a pissed-off shark with human-blood on your tastebuds:
I did a rare thing last night. I got drunk on a weeknight. I’m not against such actions, just not used to them. I’m paying for it this morning. I think even the glow from my monitor is too bright.
2 days left of work. It’s always so hard for me to drop everything at work and go on vacation. I have such a hard time just letting go. I have many people tell me that I shouldn’t worry too much. But someone should be concerned about these issues. It might as well be me.
I say “might as well” too much. It pisses me off.
As many of you know, Courtney and I attended a polo match this summer. It was fun and entertaining hanging out with a bunch of snobs. The gentlemen seated next to us spoke about his flower shop “Indulgence and Beyond.” He went into great detail about the success of the store and whatnot. On the way home a couple of nights ago I noticed a flower shop on Hennepin called Indulgence and Bloom. I swear to God this was the store the gentlemen were talking about. The guy at the counter was a dead ringer for the man at the polo match. I can remember sitting next to him at the game wondering what his store would look like. Now I know. And it’s a very fine store indeed.
