How I Spent My Labor Day Vacation

bars, music No Comments »

Friday: Saw Deuce’s Wild dueling pianos at Major’s. I’ve seen dueling piano shows before, but these guys take the cake when it comes to crass humor. It was an awesome show. The night ended with an incoherent blathering of good-byes. I lost my voice half way through the show from singing too much.

Saturday: I went shopping for new pants. I came home with a shirt and shoes, but no pants. There must be something wrong with me because I couldn’t find a single store that had a pair that would fit me. Even Target failed to have a single pair of flat front 34×34 pants.

Sunday: Fair Day! w00t! Even though it poured rain for awhile I still had a blast. Sweet Martha’s cookies and toffee nuts are my staples. I’ll have pictures up later of the goats and such.

Monday: Well, I was supposed to work on my yard. But after running 3 1/2 hours worth of errands the best I could muster up to do was dig around a bit in the dirt. I’m still working on spreading out all the rock currently laying in my drive way. The leaves are starting to fall already too, which doubles the time it takes me to mow. Grrrrr.

Levitate Me

lyrics, music No Comments »

When you have nothing better to say, post lyrics.

Levitate Me by the Pixies

Give me help

Give me help
You can… levitate me

Then take off them rings

Off them hose
Levitate me

Higher place
Levitate me

Elevator lady
Elevator lady
Elevator lady
Elevator lady
Lady levitate me

If all in all is true

If all in all is true

If all in all is true
If all is true
Won’t you please fawn over me

Won’t you please fawn over me
Won’t you please fawn over me

Won’t you please fawn over me

Shaky shake… Shakey
Levitate me

Come on Pilgrim

You know he loves you
Levitate me

Higher place

Levitate me

He kicked a baby

Elevator lady
Elevator lady
Elevator lady
Lady

Elevator Lady

Lady. Lady. Levitate me

If all in all is true

If all in all is true

If all in all is true

If all is true

Won’t you please run over me

Won’t you please run over me

Won’t you please run over me

Won’t you please run over me

Won’t you please run over me

Me, me, me, me, …

Pixies Sellout Update

For those uninformed the Pixies small tour is just a warm up for their full-blown tour this fall. w00t! I managed to snag a pair for their swing through Roy Wilkins. I am a happy man.

Down but not out

No thanks to Mitchy I missed out on Pixies tickets. He redeemed himself by catching that the Pixies will be back in a bigger venue a few months later. So that does mean I will get to see Kim Deal and Black Francis in all their screeching glory. Time can only have made their voices better. :-)

Kurt Cobain commited suicide 10 years ago today. I stumbled on this interesting read about it.

The band is getting back together

I was informed this morning that the Pixies have once again joined forces to battle against the forces of unoriginal, corporate rock. To my dismay, though, I was three weeks late in getting tickets for their show in the cities. Dang. I am really bent out of shape about missing this show. Hopefully if the tour goes well they will swing back in to town.

Invisible Touch

I just woke up to the song Land of Confusion by Genesis pounding in my head. Thank god for iTunes. The single will have to hold me over until I can get to Best Buy for the entire Invisible Touch album (circa ‘86). I have my uncle Mark to thank for my Genesis/Phil Collins appreciation.

Today is my 26th birthday. It’s a bittersweet birthday for a few reasons. I never planned by life beyond 25. When I was 16 I never thought past 25. I figured one of two things would happen (and don’t freak out Mom and Dad, I was 16): 1. I wouldn’t make it past 25 so there was nothing to worry about or 2. I would figure it out by the time I was 26 and know exactly what to do. Well, guess what? I didn’t figure it out and I’m still here. So I’m stuck not quite knowing what to do for my 26th birthday. When I was 16 being 25 seemed so old. I figured I wouldn’t have to worry about anything beyond it. Hmm. Nice thoughts for my birthday, eh?

Bah, this Land of Confusion copy sucks from iTunes. I’ll have to go get the album itself.

Little Room - The White Stripes

lyrics, music No Comments »

Well you’re in your little room

and you’re working on something good

but if it’s really good
you’re gonna need a bigger room

and when you’re in the bigger room
you might not know what to do
you might have to think of
how you got started sittin’ in your little room

da da da

My pride and joys

anime, music No Comments »

Here are the two new pride and joys of my CD collection:

These CDs are 5 years old but were just recently released by Pioneer in September in the U.S. Originally they were released in Japan when the anime Serial Experiments: Lain was popular in 1998. I had to wait until ‘03 to finally find them. I had caught wind that these soundtrack discs had hit the mainland earlier this year but I was surprised to stumble upon them at my local Best Buy. Believing that I could not possibly be the *only* person looking for these I swiped them up like a thief.

Yes, I know. I’m a dork.
