I was able to play around with MacOSX yesterday on my father’s brand new Titanium Laptop. I haven’t been keeping up with my Macintosh news so I wasn’t really prepared to take her out for a true test drive. But with a few suggestions from my brother I was able to find the command line and do some “under the hood” investigation. I would like to sit down with one of those and truly hash through the new interface. My initial impression is that, as true to the Apple OS’s, everything feels fat and big. It feels like you are using something made for a child because all the icons are big and pretty. They make you want to click on them. I must say the throbbing OK buttons did live up to my expectations. The Finder was noticeably sluggish and annoying. But once I found the command line I felt right at home. I went to town running simple commands just to see what was going on. Nothing spectacular. Overall, once Apple gets the finder speed up to a decent pace one of those fancy new TiBooks will be on my wishlist.

Oh yes. It’s Thursday. I think these Wednesdays off thing is a good thing. Yesterday was spent hanging with the family and seeing the fireworks down in Stillwater. The Stillwater display was surprising fun and interesting this year. Those Simlies are something to see. Some various pictures from the weekend can be seen here. I couldn’t really get any truly awesome shots down at Stillwater. I was still spent from shooting so many the weekend before. I am impressed hwo well some (and by some I mean 4) of the fireworks pictures turned out. I didn’t think my camera would do too well in the dark. This picture seemed more interesting on my camera. Now I don’t think I’m as impressed with it.
My car’s in the shop. I was a little less enthused with Toyota’s customer service this morning. After coming back to my apartment and freaking out about accidently receiving the newspaper for free, Courtney kindly reminded me that maybe I should just take a deep breath this morning. I think she was right.
My dad suggested we head to Seattle for a weekend soon. I’ve only flown once in my life so I’m quite excited. Plus Seattle is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go.
