It’s 95 degrees out. In an hour and a half I will have to walk home. Please rain. Please.
I’m fighting the urge to do something I know I shouldn’t do. Take a look at this gizmo. It’s called a Rio Receiver. I want one of these very badly.
I’m just past half way in Neuromancer. I’ve managed to submerge myself deep within the culture of the book. I’ve never read Sci-Fi unless you count the numerous comic books I’ve read. I’ve always found Sci-Fi hard to follow because typically the topic is foreign and authors don’t do a good job of setting the scenery. But I’ve been able to put that bias out of my head and plow through Neuromancer. I would suggest it to anyone looking to kill some time.
Courtney picked up a guinea pig yesterday. She named it Delia (deal-ya). It’s a very cute little rodent and very friendly. I don’t deal well with animals that bite. So I’m quite happy this one has no interest in tasting human flesh.
Toyota fixed up my hatchback lickity-split this morning. By the time Courtney had dropped me off at work Toyota had called to tell me my car was done. In fact, the hatch is so well fixed that I had a hard time getting it down. I’ll take it though.

Today has been a good day for a multimedia extravaganza. So I begin my suggestions with the American Pie 2 Trailer. Follow it up with a new official Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back trailer. As far as mp3s I would suggest finding Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi, Laid by James, Southside by Moby, and Butterfly by Mason Jennings.

I swear to God I’m the biggest annoying asshole out there.

Last week Joe and Courtney helped me to actually make it through the entire sitting of the movie Office Space. Ironically enough that same night while sitting at the bar an old acquaintance said to us, “Hey, have you ever seen the movie Office Space? For 5 months I tried to live that movie.”

Hey, guess what. I hate being made a public spectacle. I absolutely hate attention which I did not ask for. I do ham it up when I have something interesting to say. But other times I just want to sit in a room and not be noticed.
Yesterday during our Monday Morning Meeting(tm) they handed me a very large box and congratulated me on my one year anniversary here at work. I blushed and wished that it wasn’t happening. I spent 5 minutes attempting to open a very, VERY large box. We have been celebrating anniversaries for about a month now so it’s become ritual during our meeting to applaud and act interested. I got the box half open I realized what they had given me. TOYS. Yes, that’s right. I got a box full of Spawn series 4 toys which included the likes of the Clown and The MAXX. All of the sudden I was in my own little world of joy and happiness. It was truly a wonderful thing.
My Akira tin shipped today. Wahoo!

After many very viscious rumors it turns out my Akira tin WILL ship tomorrow instead of September. ^__^ Yeah! God I need a good DVD.
So Courtney and I threw caution to the wind this weekend and went out to have a blast. Mission accomplished. Friday and Saturday nights were filled with way too many different types of booze. I must mention the liquor Wild Turkey. If anyone ever hands you a shot of it make sure you haven’t been drinking anything prior and you don’t plan on doing anything for the next 3-4 hours. Wild Turkey will put anyone on their ass. I’m quite sure of it.
Sunday was spent eating way too much food over at the ‘rents respective homes. It was a good time though. A nice compliment to the foolery which preceeded the day.
Currently Listening To: Taxi by Harry Chapin.

It turns out that my power outage has been a mixed blessing. If you haven’t heard there’s a worm on the loose which is tormenting Microsoft IIS servers across the net. It’s duty, install itself into IIS, spread itself to other IIS servers, and wait for July 20th GMT to attack DOS style on whitehouse.gov. At work our servers were hit causing our firewalls to literally melt under the DOS traffic. Word on the street Cisco 675 routers melt under the pressure too. So my Cisco was off all day long. I missed much of the traffic. Then I read this comment on Slashdot about weird requests in Apache logs. Sure enough, I’ve had a TON of them. So score one for Linux, Apache, and open source. Since I had my router forwarding port 80 to the server that took most of the DOS requests away from the router and sent it to the Linux box. My Linux box has just sat there grinning and barring it.

I really, really hate Xcel Energy. My power has been out for 15 of 18 hours today. argh. Good thing I just paid a very hefty electric bill. Maybe now they can afford to keep my lights on.

I must say, I had a pretty good weekend. Nothing shocking or mind blowing happened. But I did have a little of everything which added a nice sugar and spice coating to life. I picked up You are being lied to and Neuromancer at B&N this weekend. I also happened upon the new Gorillaz disc which is quite good. I would suggest looking for their song Clint Eastwood. It’s a fun track.
I woke up at roughly 2am to find my power had gone out again. I guess paying nearing 900 bucks in rent still isn’t enough to keep the lights on. In my dazed stupor I did manage to reset my clock but I failed to realize that it was Monday morning and I did not set the alarm. Thank god I work better than an atomic clock. I snapped awake at 5:30am and promptly questioned what the hell was going on. When I realized my mistake I took care of the near-fatal accident.
Courtney and I also picked out my wedding band this weekend. I must admit, I haven’t been this excited about something in awhile. Get this - My ring is made of Titanium! The jeweler said if I were in a fire, my ring would come out unscathed. It’s tougher and stronger than platinum. I was hoping to set up a demonstration at the wedding of me breaking stuff with my knuckle. Courtney said we should probably save that for another day.
