All I need is a little….

Personal No Comments »

Hmm, Tuesday. It was a good Tuesday. Highly productive but intellectually draining. I didn’t do much ‘cept change variable names in 4000+ lines of code. I would have thought it would have been much easier to sift through that much code. For the curious, it wasn’t. It was tiresome to say the least.

I’ve got a wishlist. Well, we all have wishlists but what I mean, is I’ve written down the things I want. For the past year I’ve been able to get whatever I want. Cashflow has never really been an issue. And it’s still not an issue. But with the wedding and all I’m trying to be much more conscious about where my money goes to. I can tell you right now the #1 money drainer for me is fast food. And I’m not talking the cheap slice of pizza fast food. I’m talking the sit down, enjoy your dinner sort of food. So with the anal retentive penny-pinching I’m trying to do, I’ve resorted to creating a wishlist of things I want. It helps me have a goal and something to work towards. If I don’t something to work for I tend to slack off and be quite liberal with my spending. So, you wanna know what’s on my wishlist? Here’s a few of the highlights:

1. Rufus Wainwright Poses album
2. O Brother, Where Art Thou? DVD
3. Unbreakable DVD
4. The Emporer’s New Groove DVD

The list goes on, but I think you get the idea. Many of you may say that this is a very material list. You’re right, it is. But honestly, I’ve gone a long time living on “good feelings” and “love.” I need a DVD, dammit. :)

The Great Facial Hair Experiment

Personal No Comments »

It’s been a long time since I’ve tested the maturity of my facial hair. Every 3 months I used to attempt a goatee of sorts to see if I’d made any progress in my travels through puberty. I’m 23 and have no facial hair. I’ve gotten back hair before I’m able to grow sideburns. it’s truly pathetic. So, as of last night, I am attempting to grow a goatee. Courtney isn’t a big fan of the rough gruff so I haven’t been very patient with it. But I’m a man, now. It’s about time I get some hair. I will be bald before I can have a beard.

Fucking screaming alarms at 7am

Personal No Comments »

I was promptly greeted this morning when I walked into the office with a screeching siren loud enough to kill roaches three floors down. My employer had an alarm system installed yesterday because of the growing number of wackos wandering the building. What someone failed to mention to the employees was how to shut the thing off. I calmly walked over to my desk because the number of concerts had deadened my hearing to the point that this noise was annoying but not blood-curdling. I checked my email for a possible news-bulletin-memo about the new system. No such information. So I shouted “FUCK!” and walked calmly back over to the panel and pushed 1. It stopped beeping for a short while but then continued to scream at me. So I whipped out my l33t h4×0r skills and kept hitting numbers until the buzzing ended. I then wrote a very polite email informing people that it would be nice to be told the combination next time.

Absolute Obsessions

To make my current fascination with Mike Doughty even worse, I’ve managed to score a bootleg video of the First Avenue show I attended. It’s not perfect but it’ll suffice as a nice dodad.

Courtney graduated this weekend. It was quite awe-inspiring to realize that she’s completely down with school. No more. All done. I now know what it feels like to be a parent and to be proud of your child. No offense, Courtney.

I’ve also been informed that I’m the only person in the world that calls Courtney Court. I honestly think Emma got me doing that. So I’m going to pass the buck to her.

Life is getting freaky again. Things are starting to come together a little too easily. Courtney is graduating, without a hitch, we got clearance to park somewhere relatively safer than the street, my nice, fast, expensive cd burner firmware was upgraded and runs perfect. I think life is setting me up again. Don’t worry life. I’ll be watching you closely.

When CDNow says they’ll ship a CD to you so you have it on the CD release date. Don’t believe them.

Being the devout Pearl Jam fan I am I picked up the Touring Band 2000 DVD. Since my brother had it, I had to have it. It’s cool and all but it’s songs from different shows. So it doesn’t flow very well. It’s very chunky and never really sets the mood like the live discs do. The good thing about it though is that the DVD is PACKED with extra junk which made the purchase worth while.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who offered me music. But in all honesty, I don’t want your crap. I guarantee I don’t want any Metallica. Thanks though.

Do it Doughty Style

Ok, all my whining and crying paid off. Courtney and I did get to see Mike Doughty last night. It was fabulous. For some reason the Minnesota scene has accepted Soul Coughing/Mike Doughty into it’s inner circle. The crowd was unusually kind to Mike. He did some serious ass kicking too. I now am in the know with Firetruck. Nice to see Joe made it too even without his friend in rehab.

“Is your copy of Skittish Autographed? Mine is”

Thanks for the greeting, Drew. :) That really made my day. Oh well, our sibling rivalry will continue on until we die I suppose. Lately I feel quite short-changed by life. I don’t feel like I’ve gotten the dues I deserved. And that’s a scary thing to think because it can cause me to NOT live up to my potential by laying back and demanding what I believe I deserve. What I should be doing is going out and proving I’m worth something instead of waiting for someone to tell me.

So, yeah, my brother’s comment irked me. Why? Cuz I’ve supported Doughty from the beginning. But who the hell am I to wine about it? If I want Doughty’s autograph why don’t I get it tomorrow night when I go to the concert? Good point. And I’d like to thank Kristi Wade who turned me on to Doughty.

P.S. Yes, I’m a crybaby.

P.P.S. Yes, Clerks is a good movie.

Okay, last week was just a bad week. Granted, nothing has changed with the new week. But my outlook is a little brighter. I’m feeling more confident with my place in the world. I’m still struggling with the interest factor though. I just can’t seem to find anything I’m very interested in lately. I can’t really find any good music. Programming’s lame. And Sysadmining is like banging my head against a wall for 3 hours. Reading. *sigh* Reading makes me fall asleep.

I’ll find something, I’m sure.
